Every visit automatically generates technical log data needed to operate and secure the server: IP address, time of request, requested URL, HTTP status, referrer, and user-agent string.

Purpose: operating and securing the website.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a stable, secure service).
Retention: up to 30 days, unless a security incident requires longer retention.

When you send a message via the contact form, the fields you fill in are processed: name, email address, subject, and message text. The form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile (see next section).

Messages are delivered via the transactional email service Resend (Resend, Inc., 2261 Market Street #4667, San Francisco, CA 94114, USA), which acts as a processor. Transfers to the US take place under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Resend's privacy notice: resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Purpose: responding to your inquiry.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps prior to entering into a contract at your request) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in handling inquiries).
Retention: for as long as needed to handle the inquiry and any follow-up, typically up to 12 months.

The contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA), a CAPTCHA alternative that evaluates browser signals to distinguish humans from bots. Turnstile does not set tracking cookies.

The fonts Fraunces, Bricolage Grotesque, and JetBrains Mono are loaded from the Google Fonts CDN (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland; parent company Google LLC, USA). When your browser fetches a font file, your IP address is transmitted to Google.

This site uses Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC, USA) to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes pseudonymous data, including: IP address (truncated by Google), pages visited and time of visit, referrer, device and browser type, and custom events such as the interactive notebook's notebook_burned event.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent). Google Analytics only loads after you accept via the cookie banner; without your consent no Google Analytics cookies are set and no data is sent to Google.
International transfers: under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Default user-level retention is 2 months.
You can review or withdraw your consent at any time via the cookie settings, also linked in the footer.

This site stores three preferences in your browser's localStorage:
· theme:your chosen colour scheme (light or dark)
· lang:your chosen language (English or German)
· consent.analytics:your choice in the cookie banner (granted or denied); without this entry the banner is shown on each visit

These values stay on your device and are not transmitted to any server. They are not tracking cookies.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR / strictly necessary for the requested preference functionality.

Where processing involves transferring personal data outside the EU/EEA (e.g., to the US via Resend, Cloudflare, or Google), the transfer relies on appropriate safeguards under Art. 44–49 GDPR, including the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses.

This site does not carry out automated decision-making or profiling within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.
